On Saturday, October 7, 2017, Bushfire Theatre of Performing Arts will mount a five foot by five-foot plaque in the sidewalk in front of the theater bearing the image of President Barack Obama and excerpts of the campaign speech he delivered on Saturday, October 11, 2008.
The plaque honoring President Obama will be placed on the sidewalk not far from the stage he spoke from where 52nd Street and Locust Street meet.
Our 40th Anniversary theme is: “WERE YOU THERE?” on 52nd Street on Saturday, October 11, 2008. If you were there physically, relive that day in the spirit of “YES WE CAN” by permanently having your name affixed on the wall of the theater's inner lobby with a gift of $100. And if you were not there … you can be with the same gift of $100 for a nameplate. You can ASSOCIATE yourself and BE in the moment, meaning, and joy of that unforgettable day forever etched in the annals of our being.
